J-1 Requirements & Eligibility

Basic Eligibility

To qualify for the J-1 Teacher Program, applicants must:

Have a bachelor's degree or higher
Hold a valid teaching license OR a degree related to the subject they intend to teach
Have at least two years of full-time teaching experience
Demonstrate strong English communication skills

Applicants should have:

A teaching degree (e.g., B.Ed, M.Ed) OR

A bachelor’s degree in the subject they plan to teach

Applicants should have:

Minimum 2 years of full-time teaching

Must have taught within the last 12 months

Classroom teaching must be well-documented and verifiable

Applicants will need to submit:

Valid passport

Academic transcripts & degree certificates

Teaching license

(if applicable)

Employment

Teachers must undergo:

Police background check

Medical clearance

Resume and employment verification

All J-1 teachers must have:

Medical coverage

Emergency evacuation coverage

Repatriation insurance
